The sequence of species in this list is that introduced by the British Ornithologists Union. It has been presented in sections in the following order, 1. all year residents, 2. summer migrants, 3. winter migrants, 4. passage species, 5. rarities (more than 3 county records) and 6. vagrants (less than 3 county records). Traditional species names have been used by preference. Some species could arguably fit into several sections, so in these instances a 'best-fit' approach has been adopted.
Species for which acceptance by the Breconshire Records Committee (BRC) requires written field details are indicated by an asterix (*). All rarity, vagrant and new species also require written field details for acceptance.
