Party of crossbills calling from pine tree tops. At least 10 birds.

New birds for me in this wood were a Woodcock that flushed from a path and a Grey Heron feeding at the pond. A finch flock of 120 birds contained a few Siskin but mostly Redpoll. A showy Marsh Tit was near the pond.

Two Crossbills just south of Carn yr Arian, several Stonechats in Cwm Llia and small parties of Mistle Thrushes here and on Mynydd Illtyd

Barn Owl hunting over rough grassland by the road between Tirabad and Spite Inn this evening . Also a Kestrel at Spite Inn a few weeks ago - both uncommon birds round here .

My first Redwing flock of the year around fruiting yew trees in Defynnog church yard this morning. c 50 were present and bird were also heard overhead between 21:00 and midnight the previous night. Also 5 Mistle Thrush and 13 Greenfinch in the same trees. Also 2 Swallows low over the church moving south
