There have been up to 500 Starlings in an Ash tree in my garden this week, thankfully they have now moved on - I like Starlings but not that many around my house. Around 200 Canada Geese are also regularly feeding in a stubble field near my house. We have about fifty Goldfinches in the garden every day and also a flock of about twenty Chaffinch with two Brambling associating with them. There are no Brambling at Buckland hill forestry this autumn and there are unlikely too be any because there is no 'Beech Mast' there, as opposed to last winter where it was in abundance. However, there is a loose flock of Fieldfare and Redwing and I had the pleasure of seeing eight Bullfinch in one small bush there. At Llangasty one of the GW Egrets was near the car park but flew off as soon as I arrived, albeit very quietly - so spooky! A nice sighting of a Kingfisher briefly in the reeds also near the car park. At Brecon CC field, I could hear a Hawfinch 'PIX' quite plainly and then a bird flew from the Hornbeams to the Oaks near the tennis court. A flight view for about 5 secs, probably the lone female again.

Single female Hawfinch in the hornbeams, 10am. Flushed several times by Army 'choppers', until it gave up there and went to feed on ivy berries in the compound by the tennis courts. Good views. Dipper singing, Redwings, Nuthatch, 2 Bullfinches.

A flock of about 100 Redwing and Fieldfares, a Merlin, and Jay in Cwm Llia with a Dipper on the upper moorland reaches of Avon Llia. On Mynydd Illtyd a Kestrel, several Kites and a Stonechat. On the river near the cricket ground a solitary f. Goosander. At Llangasty a party of 12 Greenfiches, GW Egret and 2 Stonechat.
