Easily 10000 starlings flying towards Llangors Lake from 5.30 to 6.15pm in several groups but at least 4 with over a 1000 birds. A female kestrel also hunting close to the reserve.

Up to 3000 starling flew NW over house at 8am in a thin line spread from east to west. A grey wagtail feeding around garden pond the previous evening.

Over reserve this morning. A single flock of about 80 redwing, 10 skylark flying west,18 starling also flying west in small groups, a male goshawk soaring on the thermals before flying south east, and 2 grey wagtails. On the reserve 1 chiffchaff.

A male Ring Ouzel was with 40 Redwing, 2 Fieldfare and small numbers of Blackbird, Song and Mistle Thrush feeding in a Rowan and Hawthorn hedge. WeBs count gave 63 Snipe, 83 Golden Plover and a Grey Heron. Also 3 Stonechat and 3 Meadow Pipit and 5 Common Darter still about. Earlier in the day 208 Canada Geese were on the water at Llangorse Lake but I could not find yesterday Pink-footed Goose.

A party of 6 Ring Ouzel in rowans, 2 Goosander (redheads), Dipper, and Grey Wagtail on the river, 2 Peregrine, 4 Red Kite and a pair of Raven

BTO WeBS count today - 121 Canada Geese, 3 Cormorant, 8 Grey Heron, 7 Little Egret, 51 Mallard, 31 Mute Swan (incl 3 juvs in field formerly winter wheat now cover/set aside?). Also 2 Buzzard 1 Red Kite, 12 BH Gulls, 50 LBB Gulls & 2 Grey Wagtail. Much woody debris, most fences and gate down after storm Callum. ( Red Admiral & Hummingbird Hawk Moth back home in Glasbury garden on salvias & asters).

Late this afternoon a calling Willow Tit across the road from Pont ar Wysg car park.

In a brief visit to Llangasty a Pink-footed Goose was with the Canada’s and a GW Egret was on the far shore.

Several small flocks of redwing over house this morning and a single fieldfare again as on the 9th.
