Entry added by: Mark Waldron on Wed 26th February 20, 07:21pm Sighting location: Battle Hill Forestry / Llangorse Lake. Sighting date: 26/02/20
A Willow Tit survey around Battle Hill Forestry gave a single pair responding quickly to the playback recording. Other species responding to the playback included Coal, Blue & Great Tit, Dunnock and Robin but the biggest surprise a Tawny Owl that was roosting near to the forestry track. Also around the forestry 4 Crossbill and a Jack Snipe that flushed from my feet in a boggy area of clearfell. 2 Goldcrest were singing and in the field oposite the entrance a pair of Stonechat and 2 Meadow Pipit were feeding. At dusk at Llangorse Lake 19 Curlew were on the field behind the Acorn centre including a colour ringed bird which is probably Black 18 that was here last spring. If anyone manages to read the ring I have the ringers contact details.
