Single Wheatear and a flock of 20 Meadow Pipit were the only signs of Spring up the Gamrhiw road. Very slow. A group of 5 Fieldfare and a few Stonechat and a Stock Dove doing a passable impression of a Cuckoo. Earlier Blackcaps were singing in the village for the first time this year.

Male Pied Flycatcher, singing Marsh Tit and a Treecreeper collecting nesting material. The pond was full of toads, maybe several hundred, and their spawn.

Wood Warbler and two Redstarts singing along with Blackcaps, Chiffchaffs and a Willow Warbler. Flock of Black-headed Gulls but strangely no hirundines catching insects over the lake. Little Egret on the point. Water Rail heard near the hide.

Cold, dreary and foggy - but 51 Golden Plover with most of the males in advanced summer plumage brightened the scene. No Wheatear.

200 Sand Martin, 30 Swallow, 3 House Martin, 1 Little Egret and a Mallard with 5 ducklings.

First Chiffchaff of the year in the garden this afternoon but still no Willow Warblers or Swallows

Three female Goosander. One Kestrel. Two or possibly three Ring Ouzel.

2 Sandwich Tern on yellow buoys, 250 Sand Martin and 10 Swallows at 6pm. Also Blackcaps, Chiffchaffs and Willow Warbler in the woods and hedges.
