Went to Cefnwern area to check recent reports of Curlew in fields, and to see whether 'black ring,white18' might be amongst them. Today found a flock of 16 Curlew with a single Whimbrel in pasture which was obviously very rich in earthworms. Seems late for such numbers; maybe the feeding quality there or perhaps the chill has kept this flock from moving on to breeding areas. No rings seen. At SCM, just 3 Lapwing, pairs of Pintail and Gadwall, 6 Shoveler, 2 LEgret and a Redstart. Lake - 2m/1f Pochard, 10 Tufteds, 40 Teal, 18 GC Grebes, 28 Barnacle Geese. Llangasty - 2 more Egrets, 6 more Curlew, pair Shelduck, 2 LR Plover, Common Sandpiper, Redshank, Oystercatcher and a Gt Egret flew over.
