A rushed visit to this area gave 25 species, early afternoon. The best record were at least 4 Bramblings amongst a large (70+) flock of Chaffinch under mature beech. When the flock lifted, there were no obvious white rumps but virtually the first bird I located in the canopy was a male Brambling with pale grey head, it was then fairly easy to find 3 others so I am guessing I missed many. Also unexpected was a near adult Great Black-backed Gull that flew over Pentrefelin towards the A40/river Usk
