The B&R mentions a Saker/Gyr falcon escaped near Storey Arms, could well be the bird reported by John Davies yesterday.

Ringtail Hen Harrier appeared over Point Field flood spooking 9 Snipe, 2 LEgrets, 50 Wigeon, 7 Pintail - mayhem! It flew west along the reedbeds, shortly after a Peregrine and Sp Hawk appeared. Most of the large gulls roosting down beyond the Point so unable to confirm Iceland Gull. 900 BH Gulls.

Falcon of some sort, seemed unfazed by humans. Could be an escaped bird ? Fresh kill next to road. Also 30+ Plover in root field.

Big Garden Birdwatch Saturday: 5 Goldfinch, 4 Jackdaw & Greenfinch, 3 Blue and Long-tailed Tits & Chaffinch, 2 Blackbird & Wood Pigeon, single Song Thrush, Dunnock, Robin, Coal Tit, Sparrowhawk.

RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch. This pm after the rain ceased, 15 spp, best being 13 House Sparrow, and singles of Nuthatch, GS Woody, Coal Tit, Marsh Tit, Greenfinch, Goldfinch, WPigeon and Magpie. Obligingly within that hour, two of the unseen male Tawny Owls that roost by day in separate Leylandii made their reassuring calls to each other that they were still there.!

41 Red Kite at Defynnog late this afternoon including the photographed tagged bird in the gallery which is probably a 2011 bird from the Welsh tagging scheme?? Only 6 Golden Plover in the roost on Mynydd Illtyd.

Early afternoon from the hide, of note were 100 + Fieldfare, 6 Pintail, Slavonian Grebe and a Cetti`s warbler.

RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch 28 House Sparrow, 2 Blackbird, 7 Starling (including the Holland ringed bird), 3 Blue Tit, 1 Coal Tit, 2 Dunnock, 7 Jackdaw, 2 Crow, 1 Magpie and a Robin.

Iceland Gull in the Llangorse roost last night, viewed from Llangasty CPk. Also 1835 LBBGulls and 2 Y-L Gulls, the other spp not counted. Today, walking in fog at Battle Hill - best of 17 species were single Willow Tit at the roadside by the car park, 50 Redwing, 10 Fiedlfare, 2 Stock Dove, 2 Snipe and a singing Mistle Thrush. Goldcrest. Dog Fox barking for half-an-hour in fog.
