207 Mallards with further 32 at Brecon Prom. Two broods of chicks one of 9 and one of 14. Female Mandarin still present.

LLANGORSE RINGING GROUP CAUGHT BLACKBID,SONG THRUSH, WILLOW WARBLER, CHIFFCHAFF, GOLDCREST,GARDEN WARBLER, SEDGE WARBLER, REED WARBLER, REED BUNTING, ROBIN, SPARROWHAWK. RINGED PLOVER ON LLANGASSY POINT WITH USUAL CANADA GEESE, MALLARD, BLK HEADED GULLS, ALSO SEEN COMORANT, BUZZARD, RAVEN, 5 SWIFT, YLLW WAGTAIL-3, NUMBERS OF SWALLOWS,HOUSE MARTIN AND SAND MARTIN OVER LAKE. GOOD DAY OUT OSPREY BEING ICING ON CAKE.

Evidence of movement today- in 30 metres of hedge & lane, 4 Whinchat, 1 Whitethroat, 1 Redstart, 2 Linnet and a M Pipit! Also nearby an adult and a prob juv Little Owl.

Sunday morning surprises, positively no alcoholic influence. From my first floor bathroom window:-
0702, Fleeting view, below eye level, a small brown falcon executing turn on a wingtip round shrub/trees in hot pursuit of unidentified small bird. Reckon can only have been female Merlin.
0722, Steady passage at est 300ft of single Cormorant flying West.

Sighting location: Moors near Blaen Onneu quarries SO155166. Sighting date: Sunday 5th August
3 Red Grouse, 4 Ravens, 2 Wheatears, 2 Skylarks, lots of Meadow pipits including one carrying food.
Also at same area on Friday 3rd August:
Excellent views of hunting Sparrowhawk, 6 Ravens displaying and tumbling, 1 Red Kite, 1 Kestrel, 1 Peregrine, flock of 30-40 Goldfinch feeding on thistles.

Apologies. The bird was near bird hide on the reservoir at 16z and was identified by experienced birders as a non-breeding adult Little Egret.

Species list of 36 this morning, in strong breeze and fine drizzle. Best were fem Goshawk, 3 Crossbill, several Bullfinch parties, Willow Tit at three locations, Whitethroat, Sp Flycatcher. (See also Home Page).
Certainly no R-L Buzzard - Common Buzzard are variable in colour and form, as well as for the other reasons Luke mentions.
