7-9 Ring Ousel giving good views at 6pm tonight. Commonest bird seen! Just above the footpath at the upper Hawthorn/lower Bilberry zone. The birds were mostly interested in the whinberries, but would then feed on hawthorn berries for 5-10 minutes, before resuming on the bilberry. Others sp were M Pipit (3), flyby Peregrine, 2 Raven, Marsh/B/G/C Tits, Bullfinches.

Sighting location: Upper Senni valley. (SN925222) Sighting date: 02/09/10
Hen harrier seen close by on the ground behind Tycanol house, by Glanville & Sharon Pritchard. It was probably attracted by their chickens in a run at the front of the house.
I had seen one with a birding friend on 01/09/10 being mobbed by jackdaws above the cliffs of Cwm Du at SN95072214 while we were walking up the Cwm, but it was a distant sighting.
This suggests that hen harriers are coming south to the upper Senni Valley area where they have not been seen before, as far as I know.
