A Kingfisher perched in a willow near the Boathouse above a fast red river and a roaring weir. Another flew past Captain's Walk. They must be hungry tonight. After worms - or moles? - on the Golf Course, a Buzzard; after rotting apples in a small garden under New County Hall, a Fieldfare; after dark and at last a break in the rain, a singing Robin.

Entry added by: Keith Noble on Wed 9th January 08, 05:41pm Sighting location: Brecon Sewage Works. Sighting date: 9.1.08
So, Keith, how did you celebrate your birthday? Well, I went down the Sewage Works. Could not see a Water Pipit, but 5 Meadows among the many Wagtails. A Chiffchaff under the sprinklers gave better views than in its usual hide and seek along the hedge. Male Sparrowhawk came raiding.

Usk - 2 Dipper, 1 Cormorant, pair of Goosander and a Little Grebe. BSTW - 11 Siskin and a minium count of 116 Pied Wagtail being predated by male Sparrowhawk. Also at BSTW 'possible' Water Pipit - white belly and tail sides - but bird & conditions too soggy to be 100%.
