Common Scoter [1] male at 1400 hrs.

Myn. Aber. - Flocks of birds now appearing, 40 Wood Pigeon, 30 Starling and 50-60 Mistle Thrush. Also 5 Yellowhammer (4 male and a female carrying nesting material). Brecon Canal Basin - 147 Mallard and 10 BH Gull inc 2 juv.

Birds ringed at Llangasty included chiffchaff, willow warbler, goldcrest , blackcap, reed warbler and greater spotted woodpecker. Unusually for this time of the year a redwing was also caught and ringed.

6 Tufted + 6 diving ducklings, 7 BH Gull + 6 juv, 23 Coot + 2 juv, 4 moorhen + 2 juv, 2 P Wag + 2 juv, 14 Mallard + 10 juv.

Having gone out on a fruitless Tawny Owl search, ended up with 26 Glowworm in a traditional site. A poor number when compared to 84 on the same transect in the heat of 2006. Whilst on inverts, in answer to Phil Sims' query on 'gallery' two weeks ago, at about that time there were good numbers of Elephant Hawk Moth on the wing. I had 5 in the garden on 27th June

Whinchat - 3 very recently fledged young being fed by adults today at Penrhos. Sparrowhawk mobbed by Swifts at Llanwrthwl bridge.

3X Spotted Flycatchers fledged early today. Wood pigeon also fleged.

A walk from the boat house to Llangasty point and back produced 5 Little Ringed Plovers, 2 Common Sandpipers, 1 Common Snipe, 26 Lapwings, 4 Teal, 2 Cormorants, 8 Great Crested Grebes, 1 male Stonchat and the rest of the usual mob!!
