Juvenile Whinchat on drive at field edge.

Unidentified medium sized falcon like raptor trailing jesses seen in flight. Brownish with black wing tips but larger than Kestrel.

Juvenile Little Gull still present at 5.00, digiscoped resting on spit and seen flying bouyantly low over lake and also at tree-top height, probably fly-catching. Also a juv Little Ringed Plover, adult Yelolow-legged Gull and 3 Yellow Wagtails

2 Common Scoter, Redshank, Common Tern, Green and Great spot Woodpecker, Lesser Whitethroat, Redstart, Garden Warbler, Reed and Sedge Warbler, Willow Warbler and Chiffchaff, Blackcap, Spotted Flycatcher, Siskin, Treecreeper, Barn Owl, Kingfisher, 3 Swifts, Marsh Tit. Good number of Sand and House Martins in reed beds. 50 plus species recorded during the walk.

6 Teal and a Curlew. Female Whinchat on Brecfa Common.

Checking the ducks/geese found 3 eclipse Shoveler (1m/2 fem), 6 Goosander, 91 Tufteds, 1 m Pochard, 5 Gt Cr Grebe, 9 adult L Grebe, 20+ Coot and Mallard, 2 prs Mute Swan, 49 Canadas, 18 Cormorant. Two Green Sandpiper on extensive mud and a Marsh Tit feeding on thistle seeds by the hide. Earlier in the day some good sp counts of butterflies - 12 at Ty Mawr meadows (incl a site first, Small Heath - and two Wall), and 11 above Bwlch (incl a worn Silver-washed Fritillary & 6 fresh Wall).

Woodland edge still held 6-8 Redstarts and Willow Warblers. Within the woods several family groups of Coal Tit and 1-2 Goldcrest was pleasing as the woods there were totally bereft of both in April after the severe winter. Red Kite and ad/juvs Buzzards overhead.

09.00am.A Greater Black Backed Gull feeding on a dead sheep surrounded by Ravens and Herring/LBB Gulls.

Walking from Glasbury bridge towards Llyswen 4 Kingfisher - two just down stream of the bridge and another two at the end of the first cattle field. A Little Egret feeding on the Brecs side joined a second on the Radnor side before both flew off up stream. Also 48 LBB gull bathing in the river.
