Incredibly beautiful weather this afternoon but it brought out all the yapping dogs and their adulating owners which, together with the fishermen's outboards, thoroughly disturbed the birds. What few there were were noted in the hide notebook; still 47 Cormorants in the evening going (to roost?) in their tree by the tourist area.

I have just (14:44)witnessed a Goldcrest at my feeding station feeding on fat (a pat of butter accidentally unfitted for human consumption in a wire mesh cage). No question on identification, the bird had been hovering round for some time. RSPB Birdfeeder Handbook - R Burton suggests this to be more normal in bad weather. My first such sighting. Comments welcomed (if permissible).
