At approx 1000 today, 20Sep, a lone hen Siskin landed in the tree which serves as waiting area for my peanut feeder. Almost instantly a leaf warbler plunged to dislodge it and then chased it vigorously until it had left the site. I thought it was a Willow Warbler but both this species and Chiffchaff have been here in the last two days chasing tits. This habit is well known but I have never heard of it being done to a finch? Is it usual?

BTO monthly wildfowl count. Highlights were: 1 Bl-T Godwit, 7 Snipe, 54 Tufted Duck, 4 LGrebe, 105 ad Mute Swan+11 cygnets. Commotion at 08.30 when an adult Otter + 2 well-grown cubs arrived from Llynfi, fishing the west end eventually hauling a very large Eel into the reedbeds near the hide. Gulls & Tufties took real dislike to these piscine & avian predators.
