We'd drove to Cwm Llia this morning - had to get out to somewhere different! On the way we passed a police woman in the Senni valley who waved us through with a smile. It's very good to hopefully see some light at the end of a very long tunnel. There were a few Northern Wheatear on the fences near the standing stone and a Common Sandpiper further along on the river. Along a forestry truck there was a Gropper reeling and it showed very briefly before disappearing - first one for us in a few years around here. Stonechats were quite numerous in this area -plenty of youngsters. At the lake there was no sign of the Grebe family but as we left three waders flew in to the point and landed just the other side of the reeds - looked like Ruff. At Buckland Hill there were good numbers of Redpolls and Linnetts - so striking, like flying 🍓Strawberries. Still a few Tree Pipits and a Lone Garden Warbler singing there. Over in Bwlch when Susan went to pick up the fresh eggs from her friend there were about fifty Swifts flying around.

Entry added by: Mark Spirito on Sun 21st June 20, 10:19am Sighting location: Bronllys. Sighting date: 20/06/20
Lots of young birds now in the area of Bronllys, young Dunnocks in my garden today, also locally a family group of Bullfinch, good numbers of both Blackbird , and Song Thrush, a general increase in Siskin numbers, with one singing in my mothers garden, from the top of a Walnut tree, a mystery bird flew over my house yesterday, I couldn't locate it initially, but watched it flying away from me quite low heading North, and calling, - a large Pale wader, just googled some calls and it is spot on for Avocet

Entry added by: Graham Motley on Thu 18th June 20, 02:23pm Sighting location: Llangynidr. Sighting date: 18/06/20
unusual sight of 50 to 60 swifts feeding low down over Llangynidr - presumably pushed down from higher altitude by the low cloud conditions at the time - they then mostly spiralled ever higher on a thermal. Lots of sightings of siskins locally ...
