Ten Little Grebes - site record. Frequency of diving suggests easier feeding there than in high, cloudy rivers.

105 lapwings counted today. Chaffinches and linnets still there but beyond Anod Bridge there is possibly another flock of linnets 300 or 400 strong feeding in a crop strip between swede? fields with sheep in them. Hundreds of gulls about but difficult to count as mainly hidden. Also female Sparrowhawk put lapwings up briefly.

My upstairs landing looks north over Lower Pontwilym Farm but houses block much of the view so today I walked into Priory Groves wood to view the farm from there and I was rewarded with 200c linnet, 76 lapwing, 25 black-headed gulls, 23 herring gulls and a grey heron while in the wood were at least 50 chaffinches but no brambling.

Local walk from home (the WeBS count area): Quietest ever seen this patch birdwise! 19 Canada and 12 Mute Swan on the wheat field at Middle Gro. The.pool only had 12 Teal 1 Wigeon also 20 Mallard at various points on the river which was looking suspiciously 'foamy'. Havent seen any Little Egret, Heron or Goosander etc on this stretch of the river since the Llynfi poisoning incident on Sat 1st August 2020. Just hope there is no connection.
