2 Little Egret on the River Usk, at Llanfaes bridge, Brecon this morning, also 300 metres downstream a Common Sandpiper, Also just over the border ( Carmarthenshire ) driving between Trecastle and Llandovery early this morning on the A40 through the densely wooded section a Hawfinch flew up from the side of the road as I passed.

Goldcrest young from the churchyard yew nest being fed in our adjacent garden despite the ghastly recent disruption from the churchyard being strimmed to extinction during the 'Churches Count on Nature' Survey week. Disgraceful deliberate disregard for bio-diversity.

Sighting location: Usk valley. Sighting date: 03/06/22
My third to sixth year records of Spotted Flycatcher all occurred today. Singing males at Ysgirfechan and then birds over the river Usk between Trallong common (singing male) and then two on the river below Sennybridge MOD (silent bird and a male in song 100 m away).

Single ringed plover, single curlew, 3 lapwing on the point. Common sandpiper in the new ditch cut in Rushy Field (btw, does anyone know what the landowner’s intentions are here?)

Several of us watched a Peregrine Falcon chasing a Wood Pigeon ending in a high speed dive, which missed the Pigeon over Llanfaes. Soon after an unsuccessful attack by a Sparrowhawk on a Swallow. Perfect afternoon! (for us, but not for the predators)
