On the Point this evening there were 2 Turstones, 1 Sanderling, 2 Dunlin, 2+ Ringed Plovers, 3+ Little Ringed Plovers, 2 Redshank and 4 Lapwings. 3 Common Terns were feeding over the lake with 140+ Sand Martins, 2 Cuckoos were heard calling.

In the gloom and mist tonight the pair of South African Shelduck have returned(photo's in gallery) along with 2 Gadwall, 4 Tufted, 65 BH Gull and a Lapwing.

At 18.45 tonight, 3 near summer-plumage Turnstone on the Point, probably the biggest 'flock' recorded in the county, but on a typical date. Also 3 Common Tern. 100+ Swift.

One Black Tern and one Common Tern, sometimes together. Among the low-flying Swifts and hirundines about 50 House Martins. Song Thrushes at Llangasty (where Cuckoo calling), and the 'Pony Field' mimic Curlew calls in their songs.

25 species on a 2-hr TTV tonight was reasonable as the wind kept some birds down. Only single Yellowhammer, Tree Pipit and a pair of Stonechat was diasppointing. Struggled with Wheatear but did get 4 terr males in the end (no females, so hopefully on eggs). Others included a fledged Raven, a nest brim full of young MThrush, pr SDove, Redstart, Green Woodpecker, AND the most significant a Kestrel. Also a Fox, Hare and 2 Small Heaths.

Drake Garganey feeding by Llangasty car park 08.00 - 10.00. Also 4 Tufted, 1 GBB Gull, 2 Cormorant and two Canada families with small yellow goslings.

In a flock of around a dozen lesser black backed gulls (etc, immature ones too) and a tern of similar size. Being within 30m but on the sun side I didn't have chance to see any distinguishing features other than a white forked tail and a mostly white ... So a possible Caspian Tern because of its large size.

2 Grasshopper Warbler reeling, one in each of the sedge margin's in the two fields next to the bird hide 20.45 - 21.00.

Lesser black-backed gull - 4 flying south down the Wye valley this evening. Also 30 Swift over the village (back in the roof on May 5th, 2 days later than last year) and 50 House Martin
