Red Kite tags. Tony Cross of Welsh Kite Trust has looked at photos I took of kites at Gospel Pass Dec 07 and Traeth Mawr Sept 08. He says that the tags I saw as white (E Midlands) are more likely black (Wales). In poor views and photos the white codes can show more than the black background. P2 which I saw at Slwch Farm Brecon on 23 Sept was marked near Whitland Pembs this summer.

Sighting location: Danyfan, Cwmgwdi, SO026262. Sighting date: 14Oct08 c13:12
A very dark Redstart landed on the supporting bar of a peanut feeder within 3m of the observer. Unfortunately the rapid grab for bins prompted a vigorous, noisy and successful canine defence of the property against all invaders. Yet in the time available, the very clear impression was of a first summer male Black Redstart. Corroboration would be welcome.
